The paper further ideates a marketing campaign to promote this product extension and explores aspects of communications that could effectively convey circularity of the economy as well as integrate the concept of regenerative tourism (The New York Times, 2021, February 25).<\/p><p>As quoted on RARE India\u2019s Website, under the about us section, \u201cWe are a Consultancy, Marketing, Sales, Communication &amp; PR company that excels at promoting travel experiences and hotels that include homestays, retreats, wildlife lodges, heritage palaces and forts.\u201d (Rare India, n.d.). The current business model of RARE India is that of an aggregator of hotels, it is a platform for conscious travellers to book a responsible hotel seamlessly and experience what the hotel and the destination offers. The proposal is hence to extend this business model with good relationships with over hundred boutique hotels in India to a \u2019Regenerative Tour Operator\u2019 was a natural, yet comes with its own set of challenges, particularly from the perspective of environmental sustainability. The solutions to these challenges are addressed later in the paper. The company has been coined \u2018RARE Travel\u2019 and a website has been developed to highlight the business of RARE and Regenerative Travel: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rare.travel\">www.rare.travel<\/a>. Book a tour itinerary on RARE, made up of a thematic day wise itinerary usually including hotels, ground and air transportation, local experiences, everything from start to finish of a traveller\u2019s journey (Wikipedia, n.d.).<\/p><p>Extending the product offering from hotel bookings to a travel itinerary addresses social sustainability as well as environmental sustainability. In order for RARE to have transparency in their operations, particularly considering the business model will be driven by core values of sustainability, it is imperative to assess the supply chain that exists in travel (International Centre for Responsible Tourism Australia, n.d). The supply chain can play an important role in the creation of circular economy. Elements identified for the supply chain are accommodation, air and land transportation, ground handlers and local experience providers, local restaurants and bars, local food suppliers, local craft producers and suppliers. RARE should have a transparent and sound audit system in place which measures and tracks \u2018Key Sustainability Indicators such as environmental performance including sustainable &amp; local sourcing, employment conditions for staff and provision of training on sustainability issues, employment opportunities for local community, environmental infrastructure in the destination, especially for management of solid and liquid wastes, linkages with the local economy especially for food supply, handicrafts and furniture, environmental performance of ground &amp; air transport including shift to bio &amp; green energy. However, the suggestion is to \u2018Reduce First\u2019 and then \u2018offset\u2019 what cannot be reduced. Starting with accommodations in the supply chain, it is only natural to offer a tour from already existing \u2018responsible\u2019 RARE hotels (RARE Responsible Tourism, n.d.) in destinations that are connected well by roads and that form a part of an itinerary.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3ecdbdb cmsmasters-block-default cmsmasters-sticky-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"3ecdbdb\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Aviation Industry<\/h3>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d0c6920 cmsmasters-block-default cmsmasters-sticky-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d0c6920\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The Aviation industry is responsible for 12% of carbon emissions globally and road transportation in India contributes to 90% of the total emissions from transport (International Council on Clean Transportation, n.d.) and is perhaps the greatest challenge to address while proposing a sustainable tour operating company. According to business standard, \u201cIndiGo first Indian carrier to start ESG reporting, mulls use of green fuel\u201d (Business Standard, n.d.). The ESG report published by IndiGo has bold targets for environmental and social sustainability according to their materiality index (Indigo, n.d.). The new business model of RARE India will only use airlines such as Indigo in the travel itinerary with a commitment towards targets to achieve sustainable development goals (UNSDG, n.d.).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-da3eaa4 cmsmasters-block-default cmsmasters-sticky-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"da3eaa4\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t<h4 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">On-ground Transportation<\/h4>\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-099aa60 cmsmasters-block-default cmsmasters-sticky-default elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"099aa60\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The next big challenge is land transportation. India as a country is turning out to be a hub of several sustainable start-ups (Sustainable Finance Scheme, Start up India, n.d.). The government of India has introduced several finance schemes for start-ups aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals. According to Start Up India, Government of India, \u201cSIDBI has introduced a new scheme called the Sustainable Finance Scheme for funding sustainable development projects that contribute energy efficiency and cleaner production. All sustainable development projects such as renewable energy projects, Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) star rating, green microfinance, green buildings and eco-friendly labelling, etc. are applicable for the scope of this scheme.\u201d The highlight of 2022 in this arena is BLU Smart Mobility. As quoted on their website <a href=\"http:\/\/www.blu-smart.com\">www.blu-smart.com<\/a>, \u201cIndia\u2019s first all-electric smart mobility platform for efficient, affordable, intelligent and sustainable mobility.\u201d Blu Smart has partnered with electric mobility manufacturer Mahindra Electric Mobility Ltd (Mahindra Electric, 2022) to operate on-demand taxi services in India (Blue Smart). As on the project management report published by Blu Smart, \u201cAs per our analysis, a 100% adoption of electric ride-hailing cars in India by 2030 equates to a reduction of 12 million tons of CO2 emissions per year, avoiding consumption of 11 billion litres of fuel per year, which is equivalent to plantation of 0.2 million trees per year in 2030.\u201d The company launched its services in early 2022 in Delhi, NCR and has plans of extending their offering across the country. The companies are working together to build infrastructure for charging as well as battery end of use. Blu Smart was one of the 10 Sustainable business ventures in India to receive VC funding. The Second and rather powerful aspect is offsetting what\u2019s left after reducing by creating biodiversity that can act as carbon sinks (LIFEGATE, n.d.). It is proposed to partner with local as well as global organizations working in the area of carbon offsetting. Recommendations for partnerships are Lifegate, Tree-nation (Tree-nation, n.d) and Sankalptaru (Sankalptaru, n.d.). The proposal is to build the cost of offset into the cost of the product, in this case the itinerary. The Journey starts in Delhi, fly to Nagpur by IndiGo airlines, followed an immersive experience in all the major wildlife national parks starting from Tadoba to Pench, to Satpura to Bandhavgarh ending in Panna. These destinations are also protected tiger reserves with a thriving biodiversity. All the lodges are proposed to have environmental and social sustainability programmes such as rewilding and local community empowerment and education. The highlights of the video were usage of stunning destination imagery to convey the core values as well as highlight elements of luxury and a renewed concept of a Legacy. The following words have been written for RARE 2.0: When you travel RARE, you not only travel sustainable but you also regenerate the planet, making it a better place for the future generations. Build your legacy by travelling.
